Hydroxyethyl cellulose
It is a white powder formed by small filamentous masses, odorless, tasteless, fluid and quite hydroscopic. It is soluble in water and practically insoluble in alcohol (96º), ether, chloroform and acetone. It forms nonionic hydrogels by imbibition in water (Figs. 1 and 2), which accept up to 30% alcohol (96º), propylene glycol and glycerin.
